Key findings
- The official HYROX gym finder lists 118 facilities in Japan (deduplicated across 100km queries around 9 major cities).
- Provalume lists 129 verified gyms — including 14 gyms confirmed via official gym communications but absent from the official finder; 2 finder entries were excluded (1 confirmed closed, 1 suspected test entry).
- Gyms exist in only 18 of 47 prefectures, concentrated in Tokyo (40), Kanagawa (21) and Osaka (18).
- Breakdown: 32 Official Training Clubs, 93 certified/affiliated gyms.
- Fees or trial information could be verified for 107 gyms (83%).
Method and limitations
We queried the official gym finder's public data within 100km of Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka, Sapporo, Sendai, Hiroshima, Naha and Shizuoka, deduplicated the results, and verified each facility against its own official site or official social accounts. Areas outside these query radii (e.g. Okayama, Kanazawa, Niigata, Kumamoto) were not covered, so the true national count may be higher. Unverifiable items are recorded as unverified, never estimated.
